Slacker and a hard worker all rolled in to one. She is a walking contradiction.
My name is Charlene Runge, as the domain name clearly indicates. I’m also the web presence known as Chark (pronounced as ‘shark’ for those of you not already in the know) and I have been active on the web since the early 90s. I’m a web designer who currently works for a recruitment and staffing firm called Headway Workforce Solutions. Prior to that I worked for about six months with Alberta Justice as a Web Development Officer. The longest I’ve worked for anyone was Transcena Design, over 7 years of doing pretty much anything and everything within the company.
I’ve just recently celebrated my 3 year milestone at Headway’s quarterly meeting. It’s nice to have my efforts appreciated and I have to say that I have a wonderful bunch of coworkers and a nice boss to boot.
But in the scheme of things, having a good boss means he thinks of me as a good employee. He never fails to show me his appreciation either by word or by deed — I really like our monthly lunches. Having a good boss means it’s almost effortless to be at my best. [Either that or he has very low expectations of my work and that I exceed them time and again --- nah!]
What I can do and what I am capable of are two different things. The former states that I have awareness of my inherent skills and abilities. I know I’m strong in my ability to design and create layouts in digital and print media. What I’m capable of can be limitless, but even I know what some of my limitations are — can we say “No” to vegetables, sky diving and white water rafting
. Everything else is doable at least once.
